Irish Rail has warned that there will be reduced capacity on an intercity train service this evening and tomorrow morning due to a mechanical fault.

The national train service confirmed that the 19:35 Heuston to Galway service will operate at a reduced capacity this evening.

On Friday morning the 06:25 Galway to Heuston train will also have a reduced capacity.

There have been a number of technical issues with trains in the past few days, with the 07:17am Portlaoise/Heuston service cancelled this morning. Alternative arrangements were organised to operate in its place.

There was also no cross-border rail services today due to industrial action in Northern Ireland affecting Translink NI services.

A limited Enterprise service operated between Dublin and Dundalk only.

Weather issues also caused some signaling difficulties which caused a number of services to run late on Thursday morning.

Passengers were also reminded that there will be bus transfers this weekend between Cork and Cobh/Midleton as line improvement works are completed.
