Gardaí are appealing to members of the public not to share images and video of a fatal incident on the M50 in Dublin over the weekend.

The incident  occurred at Junction 6 on the southbound carriageway at Castleknock, Dublin 15, at around 8.15pm on Sunday.

"A male, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was later removed to the mortuary at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown. No other injuries to persons have been reported," said a garda spokesperson.

The scene was preserved and a technical examination was subsequently carried by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

"Any road users who may have camera footage and who were travelling in the area between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Sunday 14th January 2024 are asked to make this footage available to gardaí," said a spokesperson.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown garda station on 01 666 7000.

In an update this Monday evening, gardaí say they are aware that images and video of Sunday's incident are being shared on social media and messaging applications.

"Gardaí are appealing to the public not to share any of this material, if received, out of respect for the privacy of the deceased and their family and friends," said a spokesperson.

Investigations are continuing and a file will be prepared for the Dublin Coroner.
