Family of girl (5) stabbed in Dublin attack issues update on condition

The 5-year-old girl who was seriously injured in the Parnell Square attack in November last year will have to "relearn everything", according to an update from her family.

The update was shared on the official GoFundMe page established by a friend of the child's family the wake of the attack, which saw a carer and two other children injured in a knife attack on November 23, 2023.

"Our darling girl has now entered the 3rd phase of her recovery", the update on Friday, January 5, read.

"This will be the longest as she will relearn everything as a result of her injury. She has done really well thus far and the medical team is very happy with her improvement.

"Once again, she is so strong and we are proud to be by her side supporting her, guiding her, and, above all, loving her every step of the way."

The GoFundMe fundraiser, which was set up by a friend of the girl's family, has currently raised over €66,000 since November.

A 50-year-old man, Riad Bouchaker, has since been charged with three counts of attempted murder following the attack in Dublin's inner city.
