'Please just let us know it’s safe' - Rescue appeals for information on cat taken from path

The pet abandonment crisis in Ireland is "getting out of hand".

That's according to My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR), which is seeking information on a cat left on a path in Dublin 7 beside a bag of food.

MLHR was alerted to the incident today (December 4) by a concerned young person who discovered the animal.

The youngster reportedly left the scene after taking a picture of the cat to send to MLHR, and when he returned it was gone.

The rescue is now seeking information on the cat's whereabouts.

In an appeal published on their Facebook page earlier today, MLHR stated: "We are asking if you took this cat to please just let us know it’s safe and if you need help please contact us."

It's not the first animal MLHR has taken in in the past week; the charity was contacted about a puppy tied to the door of an off-license yesterday, and another dog was rescued after being spotted straying in Dublin just days ago.

MLHR has previously stated they are overwhelmed with the number of abandoned and stray dogs and that they "just can't keep going like this".

In today's post, MLHR stated: "Animals are being dumped all over the country because pounds and rescues are at their capacities. This is a serious animal crisis!"
