National: Arrest made after fatal stabbing incident on Christmas Eve

Man in his 20's was stabbed to death after he open fired in a busy restaurant

AN ARREST has been made for the fatal incident that occurred on Christmas Eve in a busy Dublin restaurant. 

Gardaí have arrested a male in relation to the investigation into a "serious incident" that occurred at a premises on the Main Street in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.

At approximately 8pm on Sunday, December 24, a man named Tristan Sherry in his mid-20s open fired with an automatic weapon in a busy restaurant on Blanchardstown Main Street, hitting a local man (46) in the neck.

The victim, along with his adult son, are believed to have been his intended targets. The man remains in a "serious but stable condition" in hospital. 

Shortly after, Tristan Sherry was stabbed to death. Another male has since been arrested in relation to the incident.

He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a garda station in West Dublin.

Investigations are ongoing.
