'Owners left her tied to a pole' - Dog abandoned at Dublin Airport finds new home

A little dog abandoned at Dublin Airport with a pet passport has found a new home.

According to My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR), which highlighted the incident on social media, Jessie the dog was found tied to a pole at the airport by airport police.

Her pet passport was reportedly next to her.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Tuesday (December 12), MLHR explained: "This poor old lady was seemingly heading back to another country, something happened and she couldn’t travel so owners left her tied to a pole with her passport beside her late at night.

"We don’t know what the situation was, people trying to get home and a poor little dog not allowed to travel! So Sad for everyone."

MLHR issued an adoption appeal straight away due to Jessie's discomfort with cats in her foster home.

The rescue stated, "We just can’t believe this, we are under immense animal pressure and then little Jessie comes along too, we couldn’t say no. Please contact us."

Thankfully, a loving home was found and the rescue confirmed she is on her way to her forever home.

However, MLHR have stressed they are under immense pressure at this time and urged anyone interested in adopting or donating to please do so.

The rescue have also launched a fundraiser for bills and ongoing maintenance, which is also accepting donations.

In a statement on the fundraising page, MLHR said, "Thousands of animals need to be saved, we are doing our best, because of the incredible support and generosity we have received from the public over the last 12 years, so many animals have been rescued because of you.

"Unfortunately we know there are thousands more who will join the MLHR family in the future that are crying out for help.

"We are struggling. We are inundated. We need your help."

Just over a quarter of the €200,000 target has been raised so far.
