Comedian Tommy Tiernan has revealed the reason why he turned down "a gig" at the Retail Excellence Awards.

Speaking in the episode "Mo Tallaght" on the weekly Tommy, Hector and Laurita Podcast, the much-loved comedian said: "I was offered a gig today....they said to me would I do ten minutes of stand-up for them. And I said tell me more...

"We just want you to do ten or fifteen minutes of stand-up after the dinner. My stuff and dinner does not go well together. I'm not an after dinner speaker.

"And I said what's the shape of the night and they said well Hector is hosting and I said: 'Well ye may f**k off so'," to laughs from Laurita on the podcast.

"No, I said no to it cause it wouldn't suit. Remember we did that one up in Dublin and my stuff you have to volunteer for my stuff rather than have it thrust upon ya."
