Young man dies after being struck by bus in Dublin

The incident happened late on Thursday night

A YOUNG man has died after being struck by a bus close to Dublin city centre

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the fatal incident that occurred at approximately 11.30pm on Thursday.

The collision, which involved a bus and a pedestrian, occurred at the junction of Amiens Street and Store Street in Dublin 1.

"The pedestrian, a male in his 20s, was fatally injured during the collision. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other injuries reported," said a garda spokesperson.

The body of the deceased has since been removed to the City Morgue at Whitehall in Dublin where a post mortem will be conducted.

The scene of the incident is currently preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Motorists in the capital are being advised of significant disruption as there are road closures in place at the junction of Amiens Street/Store Street and Beresford Place/Amiens Street.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage and who were in the Amiens Street/Store Street area between 11.15pm and 11.45pm on Thursday, is asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
