'Disorientated' horse gets rescued by gardaí

Garda Benn Gallagher bringing horse to safety

GARDAÍ responded to a call of a wandering, 'disorientated' horse which had to be led to safety.

The loose horse was located on a road in Dublin 1 and reportedly nearly caused an accident. A local garda, Benn Gallagher, found found the horse overnight.

Working with an animal welfare group, garda Gallagher and the My Lovely Horse Rescue volunteers brought the animal to safety.

The horse was not chipped and it's owners are unknown at this time. Sharing the rescue journey online, the non-profit animal welfare group My Lovely Horse Rescue tweeted: "Please support My Lovely Horse Rescue if you can, we don’t close at 5pm!! Animals need help out of hours."

The official garda twitter page said: "Working closely together with volunteer-led animal welfare organisations means that our efforts can make a real difference."
