RIP: Teenage motorist dies following collision with pole on roadside

A teenager has died after the car he was travelling in collided with a pole on the roadside. 

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the fatal road collision that occurred in Kerrykeel, Co. Donegal in the early hours of this morning (Saturday August 5, 2023). 

The single vehicle collision occurred shortly after 3.30am.

The male driver of the car (aged 19 years) was fatally injured during the collision and his body has been removed from the scene.

A passenger who was travelling in the same vehicle is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The R246 road in Ranny is currently closed to allow for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. 

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R246 between Kerrykeel and Milford this morning between 3.00am and 4.00am are asked to contact Gardaí.
