Gardaí arrest eight people after discovery of cocaine worth almost €3m

Eight people have been arrested after the discovery of drugs worth millions of euro. 

Gardaí seized €2.8 million worth of cocaine yesterday (February 14) as part of ongoing efforts targeting organised crime activity under Operation TARA. 

Seven men and one woman with ages ranging between late 20s and early 50s were arrested in relation to drug trafficking and were detained at Garda Stations in the Dublin region. 

The arrests were made following the interception of two vehicles shortly after 11am in the Ballyfermot and Blanchardstown areas of Dublin. 

 
A planned search of a business premises in the Long Mile Road area was also conducted with the assistance of the Garda Dog Unit. 

An estimated 40 kilogrammes of cocaine was subsequently seized, as well as over 2000 Canisters of Nitric Oxide and €78,000 in cash. 

Also recovered was a Hydraulic Drugs Press, a quantity of mixing agent, drug mixing paraphernalia, a money counter and several communications devices.  
Investigations are ongoing.
