ONE of Munster Rugby's new signings, Billy Burns, has said the process of moving from his former club Ulster down to Munster has been "refreshing" and has given the twenty-nine year-old "a new lease of life."

Burns had previously spent six seasons with Ulster before Graham Rowntree and his coaching team signed him for the 20224/25 season back in March.

Speaking at a Munster press conference ahead of Saturday's URC opener with Connacht at Thomond Park, Burns spoke about his transition from Ulster and how he is enjoying life in Limerick.

"It has been challenging to get use to a new environment and style of training, but it has also been refreshing. I was with Ulster for so long, loved my time there I have nothing but good things to say about the place, but sometimes just a change in environment and ideas has really given me a new lease of life and so far I have really enjoyed it."

The number 10 has been capped seven times for Ireland during 2020 and 2021 and brings a wealth of experience to the Munster team. Burns has played in both of Munster's pre-season friendlies against Gloucester and Bath and is confident after spending the last six weeks learning the calls and plays at his new club.

He went on to say:"It feels like I have been here ages but we only moved down two months ago, maybe a week or two before season started to get the family settled. It's been great getting out and exploring a new place and the family have settled in well so it's all positive."

Munster face their opening game of the URC season this Saturday against Connacht in Thomond Park at 5:30pm.
