Moore river run to celebrate first anniversary with Limerick event

ON GOOD Friday, a Limerick river run will be celebrating its first anniversary.
On the first Friday of each month, a group gathers at 7am “on the button” at the St Michaels Rowing Club in a bid to promote “positive mental health.”
Organised by Director of Moore Financial, Karl Daly, the Moore Morning River Run kicked off in April 2022 to.
According to Karl, like all good ideas, the river run is simple and inclusive. “The initial run idea is to promote positive mental health, general wellness, togetherness and it has proven to do just that each month. The banter and fun when everyone finishes and gets their coffee on board is fantastic,” he explains.
At 7am, the group heads off for a run – and everyone is welcomed to join. “The route takes you along the interior track on the Condell Road and avoids any traffic so that people can relax and enjoy their time. There is no pressure on anybody to finish the 5km trail out to the Clonmacken roundabout and back. You can run, jog, walk and do it at your own pace as long as you get back to St Michaels for the now customary coffee and buns that miraculously turn up while you are out.”
During the year, the Moore Morning River Run supports charity and have some guests who come along to share their talents.
“We have people from all walks of life that regularly attend and runners/walkers of all levels of ability. We have dogs that come along with their owners and add to the atmosphere and we have mothers and babies who relish the time out in the fresh air together. In fact baby Mia, who is celebrating her 1st birthday on Thursday 6th April and a regular participant, will be there with her Mum Karolina on Friday!”
According the Karl, the “run has taken another twist” as they now have a “huge international flavour” to the event. Part of an international network, the Moore Limerick office has independent firms in 114 countries. At a global conference last June, they presented the idea of the morning river run – which turned out to be a popular event.
“Moore Global runs an international Social Ambition initiative within the network, to promote being a positive force for good and encourages member firms to partake in various guises. The run is now seen as a hugely positive part of this. They always point the finger back to us here in Limerick and it has put a huge spotlight on us within the network generally.”
The Moore Morning River Run will take place this Friday, April 7 at 7am.
