Local community groups receive GMA funding support across Limerick

Local community groups receive GMA funding support across Limerick

A number of community groups across west Limerick benefited from General Municipal Allocation (GMA) funding approved at the December meeting of the Newcastle West Municipal District.

Among the allocations was €2,700 for Killeedy Ceoltamhás, which was granted through Cllr Michael Collins.
The funding will be used for the purchase of a lighting system to support live performances at 'The Ash' venue in Ashford, Killeedy.

Newcastle West Community Council also received an allocation of €2,400 approved through Councillors Jerome Scanlan.
Meanwhile, Abbeyfeale Tidy Towns was awarded €920 to support its Christmas window display initiative.

The funding was split between Cllr Liam Galvin and Cllr Francis Foley to help enhance the festive appearance of the town centre during the holiday period.

These allocations formed part of a broader package of GMA funding approved by councillors, aimed at supporting voluntary groups, community organisations and local initiatives throughout the municipal district.

Councillors acknowledged the vital role played by these community groups across towns and rural areas in West Limerick.
