Car bursts into flames in Limerick seconds after driver gets out

The scene of the fire on the road between Kilmallock and Bruree

A DRIVER had a lucky escape after their car went up in flames while out for a drive this Sunday.

The shocking incident occurred on the road between Kilmallock and Bruree around 2pm.

It is understood that the driver of the car noticed a spark while driving.

They immediately pulled over into a layby at the side of the road. It was just in the nick of time as the car burst into flames. No injuries have reported.

It is understood the fire was caused by an electrical issue.

Firefighters from the Kilmallock station extinguished the fire and directed traffic until the vehicle was removed.
