A still from a video being shared on social media of the car on the shop floor
SHOPPERS were left stunned in Limerick city after a car crashed through the front of a busy store, coming to a stop in the middle of the shop floor.
Gardaí attended the scene of the dramatic single-vehicle incident which saw a car plough through the shopfront of the retail store shortly before 5pm this Wednesday.
Miraculously, nobody was injured.
“Gardaí attended the scene of a single-vehicle road traffic incident on Father Russell Road in Limerick city today, Wednesday 29th January 2025,” said a garda spokesperson.
“The incident occurred at around 4.50pm. There were no reports of injuries,” they added.

A video of the incident has been widely shared and shows the vehicle in the middle of the shop floor surrounded by a knocked display stand and cards littered across the floor.

Bouquets of fresh flowers managed to stay intact.
Members of the gardai can be seen outside the premises speaking to members of the public.

While the exact cause of the incident is not known, one local resident said they believed the driver had returned to their car and started the engine, not realising they had the car in gear and failed to gain control of the vehicle when it began to jump.
“Thankfully, nobody was injured but it was an awful shock for anyone to get,” they said.
