Carl Doran, Limerick-based artist hosts city exhibition
LIMERICK-based artist Carl Doran is hosting an exhibition of his works, which are three years in the making.
Running until December 24, About the Studio showcases his paintings and drawings in The Coach House, People’s Museum of Limerick.
The work comprises multiple pen drawings and oil paintings of Limerick’s Wickham Street Studios and focuses on the structures, individual spaces and components of his own and other artists’ working methods.
“My intention with this work is to capture the unique atmosphere and feeling of a working studio space, as it evolves over the course of three years.
“I used it as a starting point to create evocative artworks with a story behind them,” said Carl.
Originally from Westmeath, he completed his BA in Painting in Limerick School of Art & Design. Carl has written and illustrated two books, Mathilda & Belligerent Blackbird and Skippy’s Tale.
