THE FUNERAL of Florence Noonan, wife of finance minister Michael, will take place in Limerick this weekend.
The 68 year old passed away peacefully in Limerick’s Milford Care Centre this Thursday night.
Tributes are rolling in for Mr Noonan’s wife, who was affectionately known as Flor and was married to the Fine Gael TD for 43 years.
A native of Kerry and a teacher by profession, Flor had five children with Michael, sons Tim, John and Michael, and two daughters Orla and Deirdre.
She had struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease, something the finance minister has spoken eloquently about in recent years.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny is expected to visit Limerick this Saturday to commiserate with his long serving colleague and family. He said today: “On behalf of the Government, I express my deep condolences to Minister for Finance Michael Noonan on the passing of his wife Florence.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael, their daughters and sons, and their extended family at this time of great loss.”
Flor Noonan will repose in Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate, Pennywell, Limerick from 4-8pm this Saturday, February 25. Funeral will take place at 2pm on Sunday in St Paul’s Church, Dooradoyle with burial afterward in Mount Trenchard, Foynes, Co Limerick.
