It's Limerick v Tipp at World Darts Championship at 'Ally Pally'

Cappamore man William O'Connor will face Tipperary's Dylan Slevin in the first round of the 2024/2025 Paddy Power World Darts Championship

THE draw for the Paddy Power World Darts Championship has pitted Limerick arrowsmith William O'Connor against Tipperary man Dylan Slevin.

The 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship will take place at London's Alexandra Palace from December 15-January 3, and the schedule of play will be confirmed in due course.

Cappamore man William O'Connor reached the second round of the World Championships last year before losing out to Chris Dobey, of England, the number 17 seed.

Thirty eight-year-old O'Connor scored a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Bhav Patel, of India, in his opening round tie at the Alexandra Palace last December.

William O'Connor, nicknamed 'the Magpie' has a current PDC world ranking of 48.

O'Connor's first round opponent, Dylan Slevin, from Borrisokane, will be competing at the Alexandra Palace for the second year in a row after coming through the qualifiers.

The date and time of the all-Irish first round game will be confirmed in due course.

The first round action will see the ProTour Order of Merit Qualifiers up against the International Representatives, as they battle for the right to take on the seeded stars.

The winner of the first round game between O'Connor and 22-year-old Slevin will face Belgian 11th seed Dimitri van den Bergh in the second round.

Over the course of the championship, the finalists will be whittled down from the 96 entrants competing for the Sid Waddell Trophy and £2.5m in prize money.
