LIMERICK'S Catholic Institute will be targetting Women’s Irish Senior Cup Final glory this Saturday.

Institute, who are appearing in their third final in a row in the Women's Irish Senior Cup, take on Railway Union at Belfield, UCD at 12.45pm.

Institute qualified for the final by beating 2024 EY Hockey League Women’s Division 1 Champions Loreto 1-0 in the first Women’s semi-final at Beaufort last month.

Catholic Institute claimed the Irish Senior Cup for the first time in their history in 2022 when edging past Pembroke 1-0, thanks to an Aoife Hickey goal, in their final played at Belfield.

It was a case of third time lucky for Catholic Institute in the Irish Senior Cup final after losing out in the in 1979 and 1984 deciders.

Both sides will not have their international players available to them for Saturday's final.

Catholic Institute were third in the Women’s Division of the EY Hockey League this season with Railway Union finishing in second place. Last weekend in Banbridge, both sides played each other in the semi-final of the EY Champions Trophy and fought out a very close encounter decided by a single goal in Railway Union’s favour.
