JOHN KIELY says performance's at training is making his life difficult picking match-day panels as competition for places ramps up once again now with the two-week break.

Limerick will face the Rebels in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, May 11 at 7pm. After the weekends results Cork look down and out of the championship taking the pressure out of the game for the All-Ireland champs who now have four points on the board.

The All-Ireland champs registered another impressive victory in the Munster Hurling Championship with a 2-27 to 0-18 victory over Tipperary.

Speaking after the game Kiely went on to say: “We have lads playing out of their skins at training and they aren't even making the match-day squad so there is an opportunity now for them to step up and compete for a spot over the next two-weeks and we have a huge challenge now to go down to Cork and registering more points on the board to qualify out of this group.”

Limerick scored 2-12 in their second-half display to put the final nail in the coffin against Tipperary. A huge moment saw a “Jekyll and Hyde” moment as John stated as Na Piarsaigh forward Peter Casey found the back of the net for Limerick, but subsequently injured himself in the process. Kiely stated: “There is a huge devastation for Peter and his injury, no one wants to see anyone get injured on any team. It is a significant injury and we will look after him the best way possible but Peter has come back from a serious injury before and I have no doubt he will be able to do that again. It hurts the group but we will rally around him.”

Limerick showed their talent once again in Sunday's game with subs Adam English and Donnacha Ó Dálaigh coming off the bench to register points on the board.

Touching on the incredible display after half-time Kiely went on to say: “We have huge trust in the group and we felt like we had a lot more in us at the break and it was a case of going after that. We have huge regard for the opposition and we have to get it right. We had a such a great response and that was well needed.

“The first 25 minutes of the game were quite tight and the breeze played a factor in the game with our wides but our finishing, much like last weekends game, was great and I was delighted to see the work rate from all the lads."
