MOST focus in this week’s junior soccer schedule will focus on league action although there is one cup game of note in the Lawson Cup when Ballynanty Rvs make the short trip to neighbours Moyross.
The Premier A side are going through a difficult run at the moment while Ballynanty Rovers will be fully focused on this as they see the Lawson as their last chance of silverware.
In the Premier League, Auisling will take over top spot if they can avoid defeat at Mungret.
Aisling are currently joint top with Pike and with the Hoops not in action, they have the chance to move top.
John Lysaght’s men had an impressive 3-1 win at Regional Utd in their last outing and they visit a Mungret Reg side, smarting from a defeat to Lisnagry in the Lawson Cup in their last outing.
They will be keen to make amends, so Aisling Annacotty need to avoid complacency.
Regional Utd’s defeat to Aisling in their last outing put a serious dent on their title hopes but they need a quick bounce back. They can still work their way back into the race.
The four potential winners, all have to play each other yet so there are plenty of points going to be dropped yet. They will be expected to take the spoils at home to a Carew Park side struggling after a Lawson defeat to local rivals Southend.
At the other end of the table, most would consider Charleville’s race already run so the battle is on to avoid for the second relegation spot.
Coonagh Utd have the dubious honour currently and they host Geraldines on Sunday, well aware games are starting to run out.
Nenagh AFC are just three points ahead of Coonagh and they welcome fellow Tipperary rivals Newport, knowing they will be in a dogfight for the points. Currently seven points clear of the drop zone, Newport will be a little more relaxed with another few points in the kitty.
In the Premier A League, Kilmallock welcome Caherdavin Celtic to the county venue on the back of an impressive 7-1 win over Prospect last time out.
Janesboro with three games in hand on the leaders, are at home to Athlunkard Villa. Other chasers, Hyde and Summerville meet Murroe and Fairview Rgs B respectively.
In Division 1A on Sunday. A win for Holycross over leaders Southend would leave them four points behind with a game in hand. However, the Southill side are in top form, as witnessed in their 3-1 win over Premier League side Carew Park last Sunday, so any points earned will be hard won.
If Southend slip up, Regional would go joint top if they defeat Granville Rgs.
With one eye on the upcoming Munster Shield final, Aisling travel to Kilfrush looking to maintain their advantage at the top of the table.
Parkville’s good run should continue at home to Glenview Rvs while Corbally Utd are at Wembley with the title still within sight. Fresh from their giant killing act versus Mungret Reg, Lisnagry focus will switch to promotion, and they meet mid tabled Nenagh B.
A huge game in Division 2A sees second placed Herbertstown hosting leaders Shelbourne in what should be a highly entertaining game. Croom are hovering waiting for a slip up as they visit Hyde Rgs and Pike Rovers B welcome Coonagh United B.
