LIMERICK'S Crescent College Comprehensive will look to book a place in the semi-finals of the Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cup at Virgin Media Park today, Thursday.
2022 Senior Cup winners Crescent will take on PBC at Virgin Media Park today at 12.30pm in their semi-final qualifier fixture. A victory for the Dooradoyle students would see them advance directly to the semi-finals. However, if Crescent were to lose, they can still advance to the last four via a quarter-final play-off.
Meanwhile, there was disappointment for both Ardscoil Ris and Glenstal Abbey in their quarter-final eliminator fixtures at Virgin Media Park in Cork on Wednesday afternoon.
Ardscoil Ris suffered a 23-17 defeat to Bandon Grammar School, while Glenstal Abbey succumbed 15-18 to Rockwell College.
Ardscoil Ris, winners over Castletroy College in their previous round, trailed Bandon Grammar 7-13 at half-time in their meeting in Cork.
Sean O’Halloran scored the Limerick side's first half try, with Aaron Byrnes adding the conversion. There was still just six points in the game close to the hour mark, 10-16, with Byrnes adding another penalty for the North Circular Road students.
However, a converted try from Bandon stretched their advantage to 13 points. Ardscoil did score a further try from Sean O’Halloran, his second of the game, with Byrnes converting to leave six points between the sides at full-time.
Glenstal had two fine tries from Riain Concannon in their narrow defeat to Rockwell College in the day's earlier game at Virgin Media Park. Centre Sean Roche also dotted down for the Murroe students.
