Dromcollogher-Broadford reach Limerick IFC decider with victory over St Senan's

Dromcollogher-Broadford have reached the Limerick IFC final

DROMCOLLOGHER-BROADFORD are one step closer to regaining senior status after a recording a 0-13 to 0-7 victory over St Senans in their Limerick intermediate football chapionship semi-final in Askeaton on Saturday afternoon.

Soft underfoot conditions as a result of the prolonged heavy rain made for a cagey opening few minutes.

St Senans were first to strike in the 8th minute through talisman James Naughton. Naughton followed up his first effort with another well taken score.

Drom Broadford had to wait till the 13th minute and a Kenny Lynch free to open their account. Evan Fitzgerald nailed a superb effort before Lynch and Pierce fired back for Drom-Broadford.

St Senans finished the first half the strongest with Darren Lawlor, Adam Kearns and Naughton all getting on the scoresheet before the half’s end to leave St Senan's 0-6 to 0-4 in front at half-time.

Naughton pointed again four minutes after the restart as Senans got off to a bright start. A brilliant Lynch pointed '45 seemed to spur Drom-Broadford on, however.

Points from Aherne and Brosnan cancelled their opponents lead to leave the sides level after 45 minutes.

Dromcollogher-Broadford then pressed on in the closing ten minutes and their rivals had no answer to their relentless scoring power.

Substitute Brian Noonan pointed before Brosnan produced a quick fire double. Jack Pierce added the finishing touches to an awesome last ten minutes for Dromcollogher-Broadford. They will face Mungret St Paul’s in the decider in two weeks' time.
