YOUNG Munster booked their place in this season's Bateman Cup final after securing a hard fought 17-14 semi-final victory over Ulster representatives Ballynahinch at Ballymacarn Park on Saturday afternoon.

A try from Munster hooker Chris Moore with less than eight minutes remaining proved crucial as last season's Munster Senior Cup winners, Munsters', progressed to the final of the All-Ireland competition in January.

2022 finalists Munsters' will now face holders Terenure College in the decider at the start of next year.

The Limerick side had showed admirable resolve to battle back from a seven point deficit, 7-14, with 10 unanswered points to finally see off the brave 'Hinch challenge.

The victory is also a timely boost to the Clifford Park side ahead of the start of the new All-Ireland League season on Saturday next.

Young Munster got off to the better start when Jack Lyons helped them into a 12th minute lead thanks to a well-executed try. Cian Casey also converted for 7-0.

Ulster side 'Hinch had drawn level 7-7 by half-time thanks to a converted try.

The home side then hit the front with a second try just after the restart which was also converted for 14-7.

Munsters' cut the deficit to four points when landed a penalty goal after 'Hinch lost a player to the sin-bin.

Then the try from former 23-year-old former Exeter University hooker Moore, following a well-executed maul, earned a hard fought victory for the Ger Slattery-coached Limerick side.
