Treaty United battle back to secure share of spoils at Bray in First Division

Mark Walsh headed a 94th minute equaliser for Treaty United in a 2-2 draw with Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday night

TREATY United battled back to secure a share of the spoils in an exciting 2-2 draw with Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds in the SSE Airtricity League First Division on Friday night.

A last gasp header from Mark Walsh following Marc Ludden's free-kick saw Tommy Barrett's Treaty side battle back from 1-2 down to pick up a precious point at the seaside.

The result leaves Treaty United in eighth place in the First Division table, seven points adrift of Wexford FC who occupy the final promotion play-off position in the table. Wexford also have a game in hand.

Treaty have now just five games remaining in their First Division regular season.

Treaty had led the game 1-0 at half-time thanks to a spectacular first half goal from Success Edogun. However, two goals from  Jake Walker in three second half minutes turned the game on its head and helped the home side hit the front.

In team news, Andy Spain, Willie Armshaw, Scott Kirkland, Colin Conroy and Adam Lennon came into Treaty's starting XI, with  Dean George and Stephen Christopher dropping to the substitutes' bench.

Lee Devitt, Sean Guerins and Enda Curran were unavailable for the game.

Treaty United hit the front in the 12th minute thanks to a stunning 30-yard strike from Success Edogun. The striker showed admirable composure to control the ball and spin before unleashing a terrific long range effort which flew high into the net.

Bray came close to draw level 12 minutes later, but a Chris Lyons effort flew narrowly wide of the upright after he was sent up by Almirall's cushioned pass.

Goalscorer Edogun came agonisingly close to adding a second goal for the visitors on the half-hour mark only for his effort to be deflected onto the crossbar by a Bray player before the ball was cleared to safety.

Seven minutes before the break, Treaty were grateful for a goal-line clearance from Andy Spain as Bray again threatened to equalise through a looping header from Lyons off Murphy's cross.

Treaty maintained their 1-0 advantage until half time.

Bray drew level in the 73rd minute, however. Substitute Conor Davis threaded a pass for another substitute Jake Walker to get in and slide the ball past Chambers . It was Walker's his first goal for the club.

Walker had his grabbed his second goal within three minutes. Mahdy’s back hell released the goalscorer who slid the ball low past Treaty 'Keeper Chambers to put Bray in front.

However, Walsh struck in the 94th minute to ensure Treaty picked up a point in the game.
