TWO late goals from Success Edogun saw Treaty United come from behind to secure an impressive 2-2 draw with Waterford in their rearranged SSE Airtricity League First Division fixture at the Markets Field on Monday night.

The result has seen Tommy Barrett's seventh-placed Treaty side, who defeated Kerry FC at the Garryowen venue just 72 hours earlier, close to within four points of fifth-placed Wexford who occupy the final promotion play-off position in the table.

Goals from Connor Parsons and Christie Pattison gave Waterford a 2-0 cushion inside ten minutes of the game, but Treaty goalkeeper Corey Chambers wasn’t properly tested thereafter.

An impressive give-and-go between Roland Idowu and Connor Parsons provided the launchpad for Waterford’s opening goal just two minutes into the Munster derby.

Parsons’s right-wing cross was initially parried by Corey Chambers. The ball fell to Sean Guerins who’s attempted clearance came straight off Chistie Pattisson and into the Treaty net.

Treaty went 2-0 down eight minutes later, with Parsons on target from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Robbie Lynch.

Treaty’s first meaningful chance arrived on 25 minutes. Darren Nwankwo connected with Marc Ludden’s corner kick, but his header was repelled by Waterford netminder Sam Sargeant.

Treaty almost scored again on 42 minutes. Stephen Christopher’s first-time volleyed effort forced an impressive save from Sargeant.

There was a notable absence of goalmouth action until the 70th minute when Chambers came to Treaty’s rescue.

A penalty was awarded when Colin Conroy pushed Parsons inside the box, the latter’s penalty was subsequently stopped.

Treaty pulled one back four minutes later. Robbie Lynch played in Success Edogun who deftly chipped the ball over Sargeant and into the net.

Edogun then scored his fifth goal of the season four minutes later when his spectacular curling shot found the net from 25 yards out.

The goal saw Treaty hauled themselves back on level terms and with it secure a precious point in their bid to secure a promotion play-off spot.

Treaty United travel to St Colman's Park this Friday night to take on third-placed Cobh Ramblers, 7.45pm.
