Limerick All-Ireland hero and Munster Rugby star to tee it up in Irish Open Pro-Am

A host of top sports stars will tee it up in the Pro Am at next week's Horizon Irish Open at the K Club

LIMERICK All-Ireland hurling hero Cian Lynch and Munster Rugby player Joey Carbery are among a host of sports stars who are set to tee it up in the Pro-Am at next week's Horizon Irish Open.

Lynch and Carbery, who will play alongside the DP World Tour's biggest golfing names, are joined in the Pro-Am field by Kerry football star David Clifford, former jockey Bryan Cooper, and Dublin footballer Dean Rock. The Horizon Irish Open Pro-Am takes place at The K Club on September 6.

Former rugby stars Tommy Bowe and Rory Best, impressionist Conor ‘Sketches’ Moore and former Cork GAA All-Star footballer Valerie Mulcahy will also play in the Pro Am.

After a hugely successful hosting in 2016, the island of Ireland’s national open will return to The K Club when the 68th edition is played from September 6-10. Returning to The K Club is Rory McIlroy who secured a famous victory at the County Kildare venue in 2016 after producing a stunning eagle-par-birdie finish to secure his first professional victory on Irish soil by three strokes.

Joining the four-time Major Champion is 2019 Open Championship winner Shane Lowry, three-time Major Champion Pádraig Harrington, six-time DP World Tour champion Tyrrell Hatton, two-time PGA TOUR winner Séamus Power, European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald and Rolex Series winners Billy Horschel and Min Woo Lee.

A week of entertainment for the whole family is promised with a mix of music and golf on site at The K Club as Scouting for Girls and The Stunning will headline the main stage at the Horizon Irish Open.

Scouting for Girls, known for hits such as She’s So Lovely, Elvis Ain’t Dead and This Ain’t a Love Song, will take to the main stage in the Championship Village on Saturday September 9. The English pop rock band are on Tour with Olly Murs in the UK this Summer before taking to the stage in Co. Kildare.

Formed by Steve Wall in Galway, this will be The Stunning’s first time playing the Horizon Irish Open. The Brewing Up A Storm singers will perform on Sunday September 10. Both acts will take to the stage once the final putt drops each evening.
