Limerick boxer Paddy Donovan scores impressive win on Katie Taylor undercard

Limerick boxer Paddy Donovan celebrates following his welterweight bout over Sam O'Maison at the 3Arena in Dublin on Saturday night

HIGHLY-REGARDED Limerick boxer Paddy Donovan continued to enhance his growing reputation with an impressive sixth round stoppage at the 3Arena to record his 11th win as a professional.

Donovan, nicknamed 'The Real Deal', outclassed English welterweight Sam O'Maison to extend his winning run in the ring.

Southpaw Donovan is coached by former Limerick middleweight world champion Andy Lee.

The Limerick fighter produced a classy display throughout, as he dominated his Sheffield opponent throughout the early rounds.

The resilient O’Maison absorbed some big punches, but the scheduled eight-round bout ended in the sixth round as Donovan forced a stppage.

Donovan had entered the ring at the 3Arena to the sound of Zombie from Limerick band, the Cranberries.

Donovan has now recorded 11 straight wins in the professional ranks, including eight stoppages, and he will be targeting some silverware over the next 12 months. Donovan turned professional in 2019.

Southpaw Donovan boxed in his amateur days out of Limerick's Our Lady of Lourdes St Saviours Boxing Club.

Donovan is a 13-time Irish national amateur champion.
