Success Edogun grabbed two first half goals as Treaty United recorded a precious league win over Kerry FC at the Markets Field on Friday night
TREATY United recorded just their second win of the SSE Airtricity League First Division season when beating Kerry FC 4-0 at the Markets Field on Friday night.
Treaty dominated their latest Munster derby from the outset. Success Edogun scored twice while Dean George and Ben O’Riordan were also on target for Tommy Barrett's side.
Treaty took the lead 11 minutes into the derby fixture at the Garryowen venue. Dean George opened the scoring when firing home from inside the box following slick interplay between Edogun and Stephen Christopher. George was netting his second goal in four days as he also was on target for Treaty in their league defeat to Waterford on Monday night.
On 24 minutes, the visitors were awarded a penalty when Anthony O’Donnell was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box. However, Leonardo Gaxha failed to convert the resultant spot-kick for visitors Kerry, however.
Treaty went 2-0 up two minutes later. Barry’s initial effort inside the box deflected off Sean Kennedy into the path of Success Edogun who calmly prodded home.
Eleven minutes later, Edogun scored again.Barry and George combined to set up the Treaty striker who rifled home inside the six-yard box.
The visitors trailed 3-0 at the break but almost pulled one back within 60 seconds of the restart.
Gaxha latched onto Sean McGrath’s through ball inside the box before shooting straight at Hallihan. Kelliher’s follow-up effort went wide.
Two minutes later, Treaty striker Edogun almost completed his hat-trick, but his powerful 20-yard effort came crashing off the crossbar.
Edogun came close again 60 seconds later. Armshaw sent him away down the left but his effort was deflected off Robert Vasiu for a corner.
Treaty engineered their fourth goal from the resultant corner. O’Riordan subsequently headed in Barry’s delivery 15 minutes from time for his first goal of the season.
Treaty held on for a first clean sheet of the season and have now leapfrogged Longford Town into eighth place in the first division table.
Barrett's Treaty United return to action on Bank Holiday Monday when facing a trip to the Carlisle Grounds to face fourth-placed Bray Wanderers, 3pm.
