Limerick gardai issue appeal after thieves cycle off with bag of tools stolen from van

INFORMATION is being sought after a bag of tools was stolen from a van which was broken into at Bishop Street in the early hours of last Thursday.

“The owner heard a loud noise and when he looked out he saw two youths had smashed the rear window of his van and were cycling off with his bag of tools,” said Sergeant Ber Leetch.

“I would always encourage people to remove their tools or anything of value from their vans or cars at night. Another car was broken into in the city centre when the lady left her handbag in the car, now her purse was not in her handbag but any thief looking in wouldn’t have known that. A lot of expense was incurred by that lady as she had to replace the window,” added the crime prevention officer.

Gardai say nothing of value should be left in vehicles which are left unattended.

Gardai at Henry Street are investigating both incidents and can be contacted at (061) 212400.
