In Pictures: Colour and action aplenty as Limerick schools meet in first year plate finals

FOUR LIMERICK schools recently took to the Manor Fields in Adare to take part in their respective LGFA Post Primary Schools First Year 'A' and 'B' plate finals.

In the 'A' decider Scoil Na Trionoide Naofa Doon and Laurel Hill Colaiste Limerick faced off on the All-Weather pitch. Both teams put on a brilliant display of football.

At half-time the scores were level at 3-4 to 3-4. The second half continued at the same pace as the first with scores by both sides.

Doon, captained by Eva English, put together some great attacks but couldn't break down a dogged Colaiste defence. Laurel Hill excelled in the second half to win the match by 4-07 to 3-06.

Dan Somers (Scoil Pól) Limerick PPS LGFA competition organiser congratulated both teams on a wonderful match and invited Colaister captain Orla Higgins to accept the 'A' Plate from match referee Kevin Higgins.

In the 'B' final, Scoil Pól Kilfinane and Colaiste Iosaef Kilmallock met and it was the Kilfinane outfit that earned a big win. The girls from Colaiste Iosaef, captained by Sinead O'Keefe, battled hard but came unstuck against a classy Scoil Pól side.

Scoil Pól captain Lucy Heffernan gratefully accepted the 'B' place from referee Kevin Higgins after their impressive victory.
