Kilmallock United defeated Mungret Regional 7-6 on penalties after an exciting Cup tie

KILMALLOCK caused a big surprise in the second round of the Limerick District League Lawson Cup when they toppled Premier side Mungret Regional after a penalty shoot-out.

Jack Maguire put the visitors into an early lead but a Cian McNicholas penalty fifteen minutes from time levelled the tie.

Joe Hay restored Kilmallock’s lead on 82 minutes but the home side rallied again to equalise with minutes remaining through Kieran Long.

Penalties followed where the Premier A side held their nerve to record a memorable win.
