Galway FA 5 Limerick District League 0
THE Limerick District League’s Oscar Traynor journey for 2025/26 ended in disappointment on Sunday afternoon when they were comprehensively beaten by a very good Galway DL side in Eamon Deacy Park.
Limerick had plenty of possession throughout but mostly in areas that did not threaten the home goal.
Galway by contrast were lethal in front of goal, running in five scores without reply.

The winners had three former Treaty United players in the lineup. Goalkeeper Conor Winn, striker Enda Curran and midfielder Marc Ludden. The latter set up the opening goal after ten minutes when he played Podge Cunningham through to score.
Shane Walsh crossed into the area for Vinny Ryan but he was overstretched so the rare chance went abegging for Limerick. Josh McCarthy made a couple of superb but Curran scored his first of the day in first half injury time.
Limerick started the second half well and looked like they might play their way into the contest but were dealt a hammer blow when Ludden again delivered and man of the match Calum Crowe made it 3-0.
With Limerick now throwing caution to the wind they were caught on the break when Curran scored his second and with time running out Galway rubbed salt to the wounds when substitute Ben McDonnell completed the scoring.

MUNSTER SHIELD
Ballynanty Rvs B 1 Aisling Annacotty D 0
THE much-anticipated Munster Junior Shield rematch between Ballynanty Rvs B and Aisling Annacotty at TUS saw the home side come out tops again thanks to a second half header from Dermot Fitzgerald.
Aisling were hoping for revenge for their final defeat from two seasons back but they met a Balla side determined to put their name on the trophy for the second time.
A freezing Saturday afternoon combined with a swirling breeze made it virtually impossible for either side to produce any semblance of flowing football so chances were at a premium throughout.
The opening 45 minutes was particularly pedestrian. Balla stand in keeper raced from his line to smother Jason Lipper when the Aisling man attempted his shot and at the other end David Donnan blazed over the top from the edge of the box.
The second half provided better fare.
Alex O’Donoghue’s good overlapping run saw the Aisling defender’s shot saved by Meehan. Minutes later, with the rain no getting heavier, the Balla keeper slipped, presenting a great chance for Alan Rossiter but he fired over the top.
The deadlock was broken just after the hour mark. Awarded a free kick for hand ball, Derek Daly delivered to the front post where Dermot Fitzgerald guided a glancing header over the keeper, into the net to the delight of the home fans.
Seven minutes later, Aisling went closest to an equaliser when superb footwork by Dara Coyne created space and his well struck shot from the edge of the box saw Meehan go full stretch to turn away to safety. Aisling continued to press for the equaliser but Calum Waters and Co were not to be breached so Balla advance to the semi-finals.
