The Limerick District League Oscar Traynor Trophy side which won the Munster title
THE LIMERICK District League squad travels to Galway on Sunday afternoon to take on their Galway counterparts in the final of the 2025/26 Oscar Traynor Trophy at Eamonn Deacy Park, 2pm.
Limerick District’s last success in the competition was in in 2019 when the Janesboro-inspired side won the competition for the seventh time, and their first in 23 years.
Our record in finals is a mixed bag with seven successes and seven losses.
Limerick opened their campaign with a 4-2 win away to the Clare League. Conor Coughlan scored three on the night with Darragh Rainsford also netting.

They followed up with a 3-0 win over the Munster Senior League thanks to goals from Dylan Murphy, Kai Joyce and Shane Walsh.
A superb 2-1 win in the semi final over the Donegal League (Kieran O’Connell and Kai Joyce obliged) sets the stage for Sunday’s decider.
Their opponents, Galway beat Roscommon (5-2), Mayo (2-0), Sligo (5-0) and Wexford (4-1) to make it to the final.
Limerick know the job they face containing former Treaty player Enda Curran who has scored seven goals in the four games to date.
The management team of Nigel Casey, Anthony Hayes, Paul Bourke, and Shane Clarke have done a superb job to date and hopes are high they can clear the final hurdle to make it number eight.

THE Munster Junior Shield Quarter Final is scheduled for the weekend with four LDL sides still in the running.
On Saturday, Ballynanty Rovers B host Aisling Annacotty D in a repeat of the inaugural final from two years ago. If this game is anything like that final we could be in for a treat.
Murroe travel to fellow Limerick outfit Breska Rovers B while Shelbourne are also on the road, away to Carrigaline Utd B in Cork.
In the Lawson Cup the all-Premier clash of Nenagh and Athlunkard Villa looks the highlight. Mungret Regional will be buoyed from their draw with Pike on Sunday as the host Kilmallock Utd and Dromore Celtic will enjoy the challenge of facing a Premier outfit in Geraldines.
The leaders of Division 1A Herbertstown A welcome top Premier A side Moyross A in what could be a cracker while Carew Limerick Utd will be hoping to get back to winning ways when hosting Croom Utd . Likewise Newport Town who are crying out for a win. They will get nothing easy at home to Brazuca Utd while Prospect Priory welcome Glenview Rovers in the other tie.
