Aisling Annacotty 2 Pike Rovers 1

AISLING Annacotty defeated Pike Rovers 2-1 in Annacotty on Wednesday evening in the Tuohy Cup to join Fairview Rgs, Geraldines and either Regional or Janesboro in the last four of the Premier Cup.

A very young Pike selection played second fiddle for much of the game against a lively home side who through their failure to put away their chances, allowed the Hoops to maintain hope to the final whistle.

Aisling took the lead ten minutes from the break when Joel Coustrain’s corner kick was headed home by Conor Carew.
Minutes after the restart the home side added a second when Coustrain finished from close range following good work by Conor Coughlan.

Aisling squandered a number of good opportunities but looked to be holding on for a comfortable win until Bryan Mambouana pulled one back with two minutes remaining.

Pike went within a whisker of snatching an unlikely draw in injury time but Leon Daly’s shot from outside the box was well saved by Aisling goalkeeper Stephen McNamara.

Mungret Reg 4 Pike Rovers 4

PIKE Rovers hopes of catching the leading two sides in the Premier League were dealt another blow on Sunday when Mungret fought back to snatch a last-minute equaliser in a thrilling game.

Darragh Killian put Mungret ahead after 15 minutes and ten minutes later Cian McNicholas doubled the advantage from spot kick.

Pike snapped out of their apathy and two goals in a ten-minute period by Dylan Murphy levelled up the tie.

Paul Danaher’s men regained the lead just before the break when Kieran Long swiveled and fired home in the box.

Pike upped the tempo after the restart and Dylan Murphy completed his hat trick midway through with a good finish to tie the game.

Pike took the lead for the first time a minute later when Leon Daly cut in from the left and finished from an acute angle.

The Hoops had plenty of chances to increase their lead but a couple of fine saves from former Pike player Daniel Doyle kept the deficit to one.

With time running out Cian McNicholas (for the umpteenth time this season) struck a last gasp saver for his side, finishing from close range to ensure a share of the spoils.

Janesboro 2 Corbally Utd 1

Janesboro added to Corbally’s woes after posting a 2-1 win at Pearse Stadium.

Scoreless at the break, Oscar Traynor hero Kai Joyce put ‘Boro in front on the hour mark. Dylan Moriarty made it 2-0 with fifteen minutes remaining before the home side were reduced to ten men.

Corbally pulled one back but ‘Boro held on for the points.

Nenagh AFC 2 Aisling Annacotty 1

NENAGH picked up three vital points in their survival quest with an impressive 2-1 win over Aisling.

Nenagh took the lead midway through the opening half through Dan O’Meara.

Aaron Cusack doubled the lead just before the break.

Aisling fought back after the restart but all they could muster was a Joel Coustrain goal from a penalty kick.

PREMIER 'A' LEAGUE

Moyross 3 Newport 0

The promotion battle in the Premier A league is beginning to thin out following the weekend’s results.

Moyross piled further misery on Newport when they posted a 3-0 win at LIT on Saturday evening.

With Star Rvs also posting a win to go top of the table, Moyross are two points behind with two games in hand on the leaders while the chasing pack are starting to drift.

Moyross were in control throughout with no nonsense defending allied to sharp fast ball to the a very dangerous forward line.
Newport have picked up one point in their last five games and their lack of confidence was evident. They tried hard but got no joy.

Moyross took the lead midway through the first half through Daniel Ikoghode. The defender dispossessed his marker on half way and followed up the move to fire in Cian Power’s cross from inside the box.

The home side doubled the lead minutes after the restart. Ben O’Mahoney won possession in midfield and put Adrian Power away on the right and his inch perfect delivery was finished to the net by Cian Power.

Moyross killed off the contest with a third goal. Started and finished by the superb Stephen Hannon who supplied the pass to Adrian Power and collected the return pass to volley home from just inside the box.

Star Rvs 5 Prospect Priory 1

Star Rvs leapfrogged Moyross into top spot with an impressive 5-1 win over Prospect.

Jake Gallagher claimed a hat trick for the home side with Ryan Guedes bringing his tally for the season to double figures with a brace.

Trevor Hogan netted for a Prospect side nervously looking over their shoulder at the wrong end of the table.

Regional Utd B 0 Summerville Rvs 2

REGIONAL Utd’s title hopes took a nose dive on Saturday evening when they went down 2-0 at home to Summerville Rvs.

Fighting for their life in the division, Summerville struck with goals either side of the break through Emanuel Alfred and Evan O’Grady to take three crucial points.

Caherdavin Celtic 3 Kilmallock 1

Caherdavin put a big dent in Kilmallock promotion hopes, beating the county side 3-1 at the Greenhills on Sunday.

Liam Morris put the home side ahead and Stephen O’Halloran doubled the advantage from the spot before half time.

Liam Morris scored a third on the hour mark and Joe Hay hit a mere consolation for the visitors.

Carew Park 2 Charleville 4

Charleville did their survival hopes the world of good, recording an impressive 4-2 win at Carew Park.

Goals from Jack Callaghan, Donal O’Connell and Darren Casey had the Cork boys well in control at the break. The home side pulled one back but Casey struck a second to make it 4-1.

Calum Murphy pulled one back for Carew but that was as good as it got for the home side.

Southend 2 Aisling Ann B 3

SOUTHEND still waiting for their first point went close on Sunday before going down 3-2 to Aisling.

Alex Carragher and Oscar Fitzgerald had Aisling in control before Dean Hogan and C McAllister restored parity after the break.

Alex Carragher struck the winner with fifteen minutes remaining.


ROUND-UP:

In the Munster Under 17 Cup there was mixed fortunes for Limerick sides with Pike progressing and Aisling losing out.

Pike recorded a superb 4-2 win over Villa FC in Waterford on Sunday. Dylan Browne scored twice, Dylan Kett and Bryan Mbounana also netted as the Hoops raced four ahead.

Villa pulled a couple back late in the game but Pike progressed with ease.

Aisling went out after a penalty shoot-out against Douglas Hall after the sides finished 1-1. Ewan Coulter scored for Aisling.
In Division 1A, Holycross lost the chance to go third when they fell 1-0 to Cappamore. Cian Tierney scored the only goal of the game.

Aisling Annacotty and Parkville ended in a 2-2 draw. Alex O’Donoghue and Jack Considine scored for Aisling while Ben McNamara hit a double for Paarkville.

Pallas Utd and Caherconlish also ended all square when they shared eight goals. Jamie Carroll, Mike Ryan, Brian O’Leary and David Curtin obliged for Pallas while Jack Enright, B Madden, Jake Carroll and Aaron Power replied for Caherconlish.

In Division 1B, Balla B and Pike B consolidated their promotion spots with third placed Nenagh falling to Patrickswell.

Aaron Nunan scored four times for Balla in a 7-2 win over Croom. Dara McNamara, Ronan Ryan and Eddie Radcliffe made up the winner’s tally.

Pike Rvs B kept pace with the leaders posting a 5-1 win over Lisnagry A. Logan O’Byrne bagged a hat trick with Andre Ritter a double for the Hoops. Adam Stuart replied for Lisnagry.

Diarmuid Fitzpatrick, Kieran O’Brien and J McLoughlin scored for Nenagh but they fell 4-3 to Patrickswell. Pat Kirby 2, Lee Carey and Jason Gillane were the winning scorers.

Joe Hay and Mykyta Kolesnikov netted for Kilmallock in a 2-2 draw at home to Glenview for who Sean Keane netted both.

In Division 2A, Brazuca Utd moved five points behind leaders Hyde Rgs following a 2-1 win over fellow challengers Herbertstown B. Matheus Jacome score both goals for the winners; Conor McCarthy netted for ‘Town.

Leonard Plunkett and Paul Campbell scored for Abbey Rvs in a 2-0 win over Newtown Rovers.

The top of the table clash in Division 2B of the Limerick District League saw Mungret Regional C beat Caherdavin Celtic B 3-0. Abdallah Hamareh was the hero of the hour with all three goals.

Jay Johnson and Brinn Holmes scored in Prospect Priory’s win over Holycross B. Elsewhere, Knockainey and Moyross C played out a 3-3 draw. Eddie Winter, Ben Ryan and Rory Reale scored for the home side. Anton Moran, Calum Quinn and James McNamara netted for Moyross.

David Coughlan, Callum Foley, M Power and Martin Burke were on the mark for Lough Derg in a 4-1 win at Northside for whom Kian Ryan obliged.
