THE Limerick District League Oscar Traynor squad were in Fermoy to take on the Munster Senior League in the Oscar Traynor Trophy Munster Region Final on Sunday afternoon.
And holders, the Limerick District League, produced an impressive display to make it back-to-back wins in the competition, thanks to a 3-0 success.
This year’s squad had an impressive array of top-class players. After a cagey opening 45 minutes the sides remained deadlocked, 0-0, at the change of ends.

But on the turnover, the Limerick District League side turned up the tempo and showed their class.
It took until the 81st minute for District to hit the front when Shane Walsh finished in style.
Four minutes later, Kai Joyce doubled the Limerick District League side's tally while Dylan Murphy netted late to seal the win and ensure the LDL make it back-to-back of Munster Trophy wins.
They will now face the Ulster winners in the semi-final of the competition in the coming weeks.
The management team of Anthony Hayes, Paul Bourke, Nigel Casey and Shane Clarke will be happy with their squad’s effort in this game.

IN the only LDL Premier Division game of the weekend, Mungret Regional notched up a good 4–0 away win over Corbally as Kevin Long with a brace and one each from Cian McNicholas and Ger O'Sullivan accounted for the goals.
There were two games in the Touhy Cup, as on last Thursday, Fairview Rangers hosted Ballynanty Rovers at The Fairgreen and in a game that never reached any great heights it was the ‘View, with a first half Darragh Rainsford, who advanced to the next round of the competition.
Athlunkard Villa hosted Geraldines on Sunday morning and it was the Garryowen outfit that booked their semi-final spot when winning by the odd goal in three.
Tony Manbouaana gave them the lead and then late in the game, Jake Leamy McNamara had them 2-0 up before a 90th minute goal from Danny Taylor set up a Titanic finish with the 'Dines holding out for victory.
There were some big games in the Premier A League with Star Rovers digging out a good home win over Carew. The success sees Star go top of the Premier A league with the early winner coming from Christian Frasnelli in the 57th minute.
Kilmallock recorded a big 6-0 home win over Moyross with the goals coming from Killian Hayes, Jon Downes, Oisin O'Reilly, Barry Sheedy, Cian Barret and Aaron O'Hanlon.
Regional had a slender 1-0 win over Southend, with Gerard Fitzpatrick on the mark for the winners.
Meanwhile, Charleville collected full points as they eased by Caherdavin 6-1 with Daniel O'Connell hitting a hat-trick and the remaining goals coming courtesy of Colin Quaid and Darren Casey, while an OG completed the scoring.
Aisling Annacotty saw off Newport 4-2. Sean Esekannagh, with 2, and one each for Kevin Anadasun and J Jaqaniello, were on the mark for the Annacotty side. Cian Ryan and Peter O'Sullivan replied for Newport.
In Division 1A, there were wins for Ballylanders, Holycross, Herbertstown, and Cappamore.
League leaders in Division 1 B, Ballynanty Rovers, saw off Newport 2-1 as Jamie O’Sullivan and J McNamara were on the mark for the winners. Also in this league there were wins for Patrickswell, Lisnagry and Killmallock.
League leaders in Division 2 A Hyde Rangers had a big 13-1 win over Aisling, and also to collect full points were Meanus, Brozuca, Herbertstown and Coonagh.
In Division 2B the points were shared by Murroe and Dromore in a six goal thriller.
Meanwhile, there were also wins for Fairview, Corbally and Mungret Regional.
