DESPITE blustery and rainy conditions on last Saturday evening in Dooradoyle, Regional Utd and Star Rovers served up an entertaining fare in their last league game before the Christmas break.
Slightly against the run of play, Regional took the lead just before the break. Some fine interplay between Fitzpatrick and Eoghan O’Donavan saw the latter striking a fine shot to the corner of the net.

Star emerged after the break determined to get back on level terms. Their midfield started to dominate with Kieran O’Doherty epically to the fore but Regional’s defence well marshalled by former Irish International Mark Sheehan were proving a tough nut to crack. The visitor’s pressure eventually came to fruition. A neat exchange between Doherty and Gallagher saw the latter pick out the overlapping left full Pepe to blast the ball to The Regional net.
Regional always looked dangerous on the break while Star seemed the most likely to press on for the winner. Despite huffing and puffing the sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.
