CURRENT Limerick District League Premier Division champions Fairview Rgs opened a seven-point gap on the chasing pack at the top of the table following a hard-earned win over Mungret Regional on Saturday evening.

The Blues took the lead after 20 minutes. Jason Cross and Josh McCarthy combined to put Cian McNamara down the line and he drove the ball across the box where Darragh Rainsford was on hand to knock it in from four yards.

Despite dominating possession, the home side were struggling to break down a resolute defence. However, the bench was emptied midway through the second half and the new impetus did the trick.

A superb through ball by Danny O’Neill picked out Shane Duggan who beat the last defender but saw his shot saved by Danile Doyle but the keeper could but watch as Brian Ahern converted the rebound.

Aisling Annacotty 2 Ballynanty Rovers 1

BALLYNANTY ROVERS, aiming to keep pace with the leaders, faced a tricky assignment at an unpredictable Aisling side on Saturday evening.

It proved a difficult night for the Blues who gave up their unbeaten run when going down 2-1 to the home side.

The home side were out of the traps at pace and were two goals to the good inside seventeen minutes. They opened their account on 14 minutes when Joel Coustrain swung a corner kick into the danger zone and David Moloney finished to the net.
Balla’ hardly had time to regroup before they were hit again. Conor Coughlan and Coustrain combined some neat interplay before the latter netted a fine goal.

The visitors were dealt a further blow ten minutes from the break when the creative Shane Walsh hobbled out of the action. They did reduce the deficit to one midway through the second half when Vinny Ryan scored his 11th of the season.
That was as good as it got for Balla as some stout home defence kept them at bay to secure the points.

Janesboro 3 Geraldines 2

JANESBORO moved into the top six with a 3-2 win over Geraldines in an exciting encounter that saw three red cards brandished.

The home side took the lead just after the half hour mark when Kai Joyce drifted between two defenders to fire in.

Shane Clarke doubled their advantage six minutes later when looped a header over Jason Mullins to send the home side two to the good at the break.

After the resumption, ‘Dines were much better and two goals within two minutes after the hour mark levelled up the tie.
First Kian Mitchell set up Kevin Barry and them Jake Leamy picked out Tony Mambuana who swivelled and shot to equalise.

‘Dines had the opportunity to take the lead but Boro keeper Aaron O’Sullivan made a superb double save to prevent Kevin Barry’s spot kick from finding the target.

‘Boro took advantage of the let off as Clarke struck again with another header for the winning score on 82 minutes.

Regional United 2 Nenagh AFC 1

REGIONAL United made it six games unbeaten as they saw off Nenagh on a 2-1 scoreline.

The result puts the Dooradoyle side to fifth in the table.

Eoin Duff teed up Muhsin Jelle to open the scoring and when Tom Frawley doubled the advantage a minute before the break, Duff was again the provider.

Nenagh, fighting for the survival, pulled one back through Dan O'Meara but ended up empty handed as United held out for the points.

THE thrilling Premier A promotion race saw the three joint leaders in the table record wins at the weekend to keep the exciting bubbling.

Star Rvs welcomed Caherdavin Celtic to Lee Estate and a red card for the visitors in the opening minutes made it advantage Star. However, within minutes Nick O'Connell fired Celtic ahead.

An immediate response saw Jake Gallagher level for Star and a Ryan Guedes free kick before the break put the home side in front.

Miguel Valera made it 3-1 before a fine strike from Keith Moran brough the game back to a one goal difference.
Two red cards for Star piled the pressure on in injury time but they held on for three valuable points.

Moyross beat Summerville Rvs 4-2. Goals from Jack Moroney and Adrian Power had the winners tow up at the break.

Jay Ryan added another after the break but Jake Vaughan score for Summerville. Kyle Molloy reduced the deficit to one with an hour gone but Cian Power netted to ensure the win for Moyross.

Kilmallock had an easier time at home to Southend where goals from Paul Moloney, Cian Barrett, Sean Kiely, Barry Sheedy, Paul Doona, Shane Lyons and Oisin O'Reilly did the business.

Newport are still well in touch with the leaders and they eased past Prospect Priory. Max Kwietneiwski scored a consolation for the home side but scores from Conor Brett (2), Craig O'Connell (2), Christy Doyle, Eoin Looney and Christy O'Connor won out.

Gerry Fitzpatrick, Eoghan O'Donovan and A Cobbs-Sarko were on the mark for Regional Utd B but they went down by the odd goal in seven to Aisling Ann B for whom Oscar Fitzgerald, Adam Blake, Eoghan Brady and Alessio Iaquaniello were on the target.

The race for honours in Division 1A produced a thriller when Murroe edged out Herbertstown 4-3.

It was the first league defeat for ‘Town in nearly 2 ½ years.

Murroe opened the scoring from an early corner, Jamie Long’s delivery saw Liam Quinn pounce on the breaking ball to make it 1-0 within ten minutes.

Bradley McNamara equalised for the visitors after the half hour mark with a quick break and the same player tilted the tie Town’s way on the hour mark.

Jamie Long scored with a volley from a breaking ball level it up but soon after Herbertstown made it 3-2 when Bradley McNamara completed his mat trick with a sublime chip.

Five minutes later Darren Dunlea pounced on a bicycle kick cross from Liam Quaid to make it and took the lead on 75 minutes through Killian Quaid after a goalmouth scramble.

A flurry of yellow cards in the dying stages saw ‘town finish with seven as Murroe held on for a memorable win.
Ethan Hannon and Rob McLaughlin were on target for Corbally Utd B in a 2-1 win over Pallas Utd for whom Mike Ryan replied.

Jake Slattery netted for Cappamore at Parkville but scores from Jamie McMahon and Tom Hayes gave the home side the points.
Goals from Jamie Hogan, Logan O'Byrne and Andre Ritter helped Pike Rvs B to a 3-0 win over Mungret Reg to join Balla B at the top of the Div 1B table.

Nenagh B kept up their challenge beating Kilmallock B 4-2. Darragh McDonnell, Dylan Kennedy, Casey Finn and Dan Furey obliged for the winners. Callum O'Dwyer and Peter O'Reilly replied for Kilmallock.

Kilfrush and Glenview Rvs ended 4-4. Ronan McGee (3) and Mike O'Keeffe for Kilfrush while Sean Keane 2, Conor McNamara and Frank Lang netted for Rovers.

Croom proved too strong for Lisnagry running in seven scores through Conor Laffan 2, Danny Lawlor 2, Martin O'Reilly, Josh Shinnors and Luke Hayes while Adam Stuart replied.

Colin Coleman netted for times for Newport in a 6-1 win over Patrickswell. Cillian O’Sullivan and Aaron O’Neill also scored for the winners with Paul O’Brien replying for ‘Well.

In Division 2A, Charlie Grace, David Cassidy and Daniel Fogarty scored for Lough Derg in a 3-1 win over Aisling Annacotty C while Coonagh beat Cappamore 4-1. Ralph Leonard 2, Ger Hodkinson and Liam Kelly netted for Coonagh. Cody Kok replied for Cappamore.

Herbertstown B suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Moyross B for whom Dean Quinn 2 and John Mitchell were on the mark while H Costello and Tadhg McCarthy scored for Meanus but they fell 3-2 with Jerry Flavin 2 and Finbar Fitzpatrick on target for Castle Rvs.

In Division 2B, Fairview slipped up in their attempts to catch leaders Caherdavin when they were held to a 1-1 draw with Summerville Rvs B. Anthony McNamara scored for Fairview Rgs Stephen Scanlon replied for Rovers.

Adam Lyons grabbed a hat trick for Holycross B in a 4-0 win over Prospect Priory B. Simon Delaney was also on the mark.
Goals from Abdallah Hamareh 2, E McSweeney 2 and Liam Moran gave Mungret Reg C a 5-0 win over Murroe B.

Shelbourne B closed the gap on leaders Murroe C to just one point after they defeated Athlunkard Villa C 3-2. Martin Wallace (2) and AJ McDonagh scored the winning goals while Lough Derg hit Ballynanty Rvs C for six through David Coughlan 2, Cian Oakley 2, Martin Burke and Noel McLeish. Jake Murphy scored twice along with Luke Brosnan as Northside defeated Parkville B.

In the Munster Youth Cup, there was mixed fortunes for Limerick sides. Fairview fell a goal behind to Newmarket Celtic through J Mulqueen nut two goals from Darren Keogh and one from Chad Molloy had View in control by the break.  

The home side pulled back a late goal but Fairview advance to the last 16 of the MFA as well as the last 32 of the FAI.

No such luck for Murroe who went down 4-2 to Feenagh. Cian Lawlee scored all four for the visitors. Scott Nugent and Alex Woodland were on the mark for Murroe.

Under 17 Premier leaders Holycross kept up their 100% record with a 1-0 win over Murroe with a goal from Ali Zaidi.

Aisling Annacotty A hit Fairview Rgs for six through Jack Cregan 3, Ngache Aguinagalde 2 and P Edroso.

Danny Quirke, D Kirwin, Dylan Kett and Gustavo Dos Santos scored for Pike in a 4-1 win at Shelbourne for whom Harry O'Sullivan replied.

C O'Connor, Mikolai Sznader and Luke White were on the mark for Mungret at Caherdavin Celtic but they fell by the odd goal. Dean Graham 2, D Glynn and K Lelito netted the winning scores.

Division 1A leaders Pike won 6-2 at Lough Derg. O Siedel hit a double for the home side but goals from P Casey 2, Stephen Hanrahan 2, Lee O'Gorman and S Hartigan won the points.

Jack Hickey 2, Sam Hogan, Harry Ferte and J Mulqueen scored for Lisnagry in a 5-4 win over Aisling Annacotty B. Kevin Reidy 2, Luke McMullen and Jamie Patton replied.

Regional Utd and Newport drew 1-1. Tadhg Goggin and William Meehan were the respective scorers while Charleville accounted for Corbally Utd on a 4-1 scoreline. Maksynm Sarnavskyi and Bobby Walsh scored two apiece for the winners. Pat Jackman replied for United.

In Division 2, Herbertstown HIT Murroe for six courtesy of D Monks 2, B Corbett, P O'Dwyer, D Mulcahy and Nic Saveljev.

M Jugowiec and F Conan Murphy were on target for Lough Derg B but they conceded four to Kilfrush through Charlie O'Connor 2, J McMahon and S Hyland.
