THERE were Limerick wins for Shannon, Old Crescent and Bruff on a dramatic day of action in the men's energia All-Ireland League on Saturday.
In the energia All-Ireland League Women's Division, high-flying UL-Bohemian continued their fine run with an emphatic 43-10 victory away to Wicklow.
In Division 1A, Young Munster fell to a 26-29 defeat to Munster rivals Cork Constitution in an entertaining contest at Tom Clifford Park.
Exciting winger Hubert Gilvarry scored a hat-trick of tries for Munsters' who led 26-17 at one stage in the second half before two tries for the visitors ultimately turned the game in the favour.
Munsters' picked up both a try and losing bonus point as Alan Kennedy also dotted down for the home side.
The defeat sees Munsters' drop to eighth place in the Division 1A table, 13 points clear of basement side Nenagh Ormonf and three points ahead of ninth-placed UCD.
The Division 1B action saw Garryowen suffer a disappointing 21-27 defeat at home to Dublin University at Dooradoyle.
Garryowen had led the contest 18-7 at half-time. However, the Dublin students racked up four tries in all to claim victory.
Garryowen's third defeat of the campaign has seen the Light Blues drop to fifth place in the table, but just two points behind fourth placed City of Armagh.
In Division 2A Shannon scored an emphatic 21-0 victory over Corinthians on the back pitch at Thomond Park.
Shannon had tries from Josh Costello in the secind half to add to two five-pointers from Matt Te Pou in the opening period. Jamie Gavin converted all three tries.
The Parish side has jumped up to third place in the table, five points behind second-placed Dungannon, following their fourth AIL win of the season.
Also in Division 2A, Old Crescent struck late to secure a precious 22-17 victory over Wanderers at Takumi Park.
Jack O'Mahony struck for the decisive match-winning try for the Limerick side late on. The Rosbrien side led 17-7 at half-time.
Crescent have jumped up to seventh place in the 2A table following this win.
There was no joy for UL-Bohemian at Hamilton Park where the Red, Red Robins succumbed 13-24 to Sligo.
The Annacotty side had trailed 5-14 at half-time. UL-Bohs, who have lost their two most recent league fixtures, are second in the 2B table, but now 11 points adrift of table toppers Galwegians.
In Division 2C, Bruff secured a precious 30-25 bonus point victory over Belfast Harlequins at Kilballyowen Park.
The South Limerick side shared eight tries with the visitors, the home side's tries coming courtesy of Nehuen Rossetti, Andrew O’Byrne, John Bateman and Cathal Garvey.
Bruff are now up to fifth place in the 2C table and well in the hunt for a promotion play-off place with now seven rounds of regular season games played.
Also in 2C, Thomond fell to a 40-28 defeat to Monkstown at Sydney Parade. Thomond did secure a try bonus point after scoring four tries through Luke Fitzgerald wuth two, Evan Maher and Ryain O’Donovan Ahern.
In the women's All-Ireland League, UL-Bohemian maintained their excellent run of form after a 43-10 victory over Wicklow at Ashtown Lane.
The Red, Red Robins scored seven tries in the contest, including a hat-trick from Beth Buttimer and a brace from Éabha Nic Dhonnacha.
The Annacotty side, with seven wins from seven, lead the way on the league table, four points clear of second placed Blackrock College.
