THE 2025/2026 Limerick District League junior soccer season is scheduled to kick-off next weekend despite off the field events leaving an air of uncertainty hanging over the clubs.

With last year’s committee stood down by the FAI pending an investigation, a working group will be put in place to keep things moving, pending the eventual outcome of proceedings.

On the pitch, participants, both players and officials, will be focused on the action come kick off time in their relevant games.

Champions, Fairview Rgs who kick off their campaign at Hyde Rgs, have shown in close season action that they have not eased up from last season adding silverware in the guise of the Tom Hand Cup to the trophy cabinet already.

With the same management team in place, the side have strengthened with the addition of Tomas O'Connor from Balla'. Another huge positive sees goalkeeper Aaron Savage return to the club.

Last season's runners up, Pike Rvs have Robbie Williams and Wayne O'Donovan in charge again as they look to rebuild the Hoops following a number of players moving on.

Shane Walsh, Eoin Hanrahan, Daniel Doyle, Leon Kirrane, Eoin Duff and Sean Madigan have left while Aaron Haugh from Fairview, Leon Daly from Aisling, Lee McGuire from Shannon Hibs along with Aaron Murphy and Brendan O’Dwyer from Boro are additions to date. The Hoops come Regio al in the opening game.

Aisling followed up their league success of 2024 by finishing third last season. Declan Farmer former Treaty Utd Academy Manager is in charge and he will be joined by ex-Sligo Rover player Anton Mannering.

Declan has added to already strong squad some young players from the League of Ireland, including former Aisling players Seanie O’Haodha, Donnacha O’Leary and Ross Bermingham along with goalkeeper Carl Williams, Jamie Halpin, Issac O’Sullivan, Sean Oyibo and Cillian Mulvihill.

On the negative side the loss of Tom Kidd, albeit possibly short term, is a big blow while Willie Armshaw returns to St Michael's.

Mungret Regional will be hoping to build on last season’s superb fourth place finish. They started well by holding onto last year’s signings and manager Paul Danaher has added shrewdly in the off season.

Goalkeeper Daniel Doyle and Mike Curran join from Pike. Gavin Mellerick from Fairview and Regional United’s star youth player Mark Barrett may also prove clever signings. Mungret welcome Geraldines in first game.

Regional United, with Alex O’Donoghue again at the helm have kept last year’s squad generally intact. Sean Madigan and Eoin Duff from Pike Rvs will be good additions to bolster a good squad.

After a good season on their return to the top flight, ‘Boro have been busiest in the off season, adding considerably to the panel.

Names like Dylan Moriarty, Cillian Redmond, Adam Finn, Conor Finn, Luke o Connell, Jamie Young, Jack O’Connor, Mark Lynch and Eddie Ward might not be readily recognizable to the average fan but early indications suggest we may get to know a few of them quite well by season’s end.

Aaron Murphy and Brendan O'Dwyer leave for Pike Rvs. Boro visit Nenagh for their opener.

Hyde Rgs put up a fine showing last season in their first season back in thew trop flight in over 30 years. The close season has seen a number of players leave but new manager, Ken Keating will look to bring in fresh faces to keep the momentum going.

This is bound to be an exciting season for Balla' as they open their superb new grounds at Bateman Park, now known as Ballynanty Park, where they will host Aisling in the opening game.

Manager Derek Braddish will be aided by Daithi O’Donoghue, Dan Lucey and Paudie Hickey and they welcome Shane Walsh and Leon Kirrane from Pike Rvs as well as Conor Keane from ‘Dines and hot shot, AJ Moloney from Croom.

Jack Horan moves on, to Aisling Annacotty.

Nenagh will again be focusing on using the conveyor belt of talent coming through every year. With a good youth team from last season available they also add Pa Steed from Pike’s youth side, Kian Kelly-Mitchell from Peakevilla & Conor Hanniffy from Tullamore Town.

Geraldines had a difficult season just gone but they survived intact and with the exception of Conor Keane, look to have held their squad. In comes the legendary Eoin Hanrahan from Pike Rvs.

His experience will be a godsent to the younger lads in the squad, Kevin Barry also joins and he will always score goals. Leon Johnson, Ousman Darboe and Aaron Grant strengthens the squad further.

Newcomers Athlunkard Villa, watched over by Keith Kerley and Roy O’Connell, succeeded in holding their squad from last season.

The premier league experience of Pa Riordan, Mark Mcgrath as well as new signing Cillian Scully from Nenagh should be of great benefit to Villa.

Corbally Utd also mark their return after a prolonged absence. Manager Brian O’Regan was contented with the squad that won promotion last season. He did bring David Madigan and Eoin O'Connell up from the B team. Gareth Kennedy from Bridge United will also join the Blues.

The two newcomers meet in the opening game In Corbally.
