MUNSTER CHAMPIONS CUP:

Aisling Annacotty 7 Killavilla United 0

AISLING Annacotty qualified for the last four of the Munster Champions Cup after they eased to victory on Saturday evening against Tipperary side Killavilla.

The Limerick District League champions never look in danger and once Leon Daly fired them in front midway through the first half it was always a case of how many they would score.

A Conor Coughlan free kick doubled the lead and Tom Kidd made it 3-0 before the break.

In the second half, further goals from Leon Daly, Conor Carew, Adam Foley and Conor Coughlan completed the rout.

Aisling will have home advantage against Villa FC of Waterford in the last four. The other semi-final will see Killarney Celtic play Grattan United, of Cork.

PREMIER LEAGUE:

Fairview Rgs 1 Janesboro 2

JANESBORO caused a huge surprise on Sunday morning when they defeated a highly fancied Fairview Rgs 2-1.

Goalscoring supremo Shane Clarke came up trumps again with both goals for his side but he had plenty of help.

The work rate of a young ‘Boro side was admirable and a dogged defence, well marshalled by Brendan O’Dwyer, had a memorable day.

‘Boro took the lead early on when Aodh O'Hanluain played Shane Clarke in on goal and he was fouled in the area, converting the spot kick himself.

It took Fairview 80 minutes to get back to level terms and the goal had a touch of luck about it, with Danny O’Neill’s cross squirming through the hand of Joey Sheehan into the net.

‘Boro responded almost immediately and a trademark goal from Clarke, hitting a dropping volley from 25 yards to the roof of the net for a worthy winner.

Fairview will be bitterly disappointed. They had enough possession to win any game but with their widemen being nullified, they lacked ideas on how to break down the visitors.

An experienced management team will be keen to stress there is no need for panic with a full season yet ahead but they will be looking for a big improvement.
