IT MAY have not been a vintage Limerick performance but one player stood out for his efforts in the win at Glenisk O'Connor Park.

Cathal O'Neill scored the second goal to ensure there would be no upset in Tullamore as Limerick emerged eight-point winners in the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A clash.

O'Neill found the back of the net making a direct off the shoulder run and collecting the pass from Shane O'Brien. The Crecora-Manister clubman's shot then had too much power for Faithful 'keeper Liam Hoare.

The performance at midfield saw O'Neill named in the GAA's Team of the Week.

The Limerick star was also shortlisted for the Player of the Week for his efforts, nominated Kieran Hanrahan of Galway and Cork's Niall O'Leary. Ahead of their trip to the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday Niall was one of three Cork men on the Team of the Week - Daire O'Leary and Brian Hayes also selected in the XV.
