Limerick colleges learn Fitzgibbon Cup and Sigerson quarter-final opponents

UNIVERSITY OF LIMERICK and Mary Immaculate College have sealecd home Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-finals. Mary I host UCD on Wednesday afternoon at 2pm, while UL take on UCC in Maguires Field at 8pm on Wednesday evening.

Mary Immaculate College produced a dramatic second-half turnaround to edge past ATU Galway by 1-24 to 5-9 in round three of the Fitzgibbon Cup on last Wednesday evening. Limerick senior hurling star Shane O'Brien was in outstanding scoring form finishing up with an impressive 1-15, while Jimmy Quilty and Oisin O'Farrell produced solid displays.

UL had too much for DCU winning out 4-24 to 1-20 in Dublin on last Wednesday evening.Limerick hurler Adam English was in fine form, finishing with a tally of 2-1, while Aidan O’Connor contributed 0-6 for Brian Ryan's side.

Despite playing out a battling draw, 2-15 to 0-21, against a fancied University of Galway outfit, TÚS Midwest bowed out of the Fitzgibbon Cup on home soil on last Wednesday evening.

University of Limerick face Maynooth University on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm in Maguires Field in the Sigerson Cup quarter final.David Power's charges remain unbeaten in the Sigerson Cup having recorded victories over MTU Cork and DCU. Limerick's Aaron Neville and Andrew Meade are part of the UL Sigerson Cup squad
