Fixtures announced for opening round of Limerick intermediate and premier junior hurling championships

Limerick senior hurling star Gearoid Hegarty will line out for St Patrick's

THE LIMERICK Intermediate and Premier Junior Hurling Championships get underway this week. 

Six games take place in group one and two of the Intermediate Hurling Championship across Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Each club is guaranteed five group games, with the top two teams  advancing to the Intermediate and Premier Junior semi-finals. 

Second and third place from each group will meet in the quarter-finals of the championship.

Group one consists of last year's county finalists Bruree, Feenagh Kilmeedy, Croom, Cappamore, Mungret St Paul's and Hospital Herbertstown. 

Cappamore face Hospital Herbertstown in Knocklong on Thursday evening at 7pm, while Bruree take on Croom at the same time in Ballingarry. The final game of the weekend sees the meeting of the 2024 premier junior champions Feenagh-Kilmeedy and Mungret St Paul's second team on Saturday at 7pm in Sean Finn Park, Rathkeale. 

Group two features Na Piarsaigh, Feohanagh, Knockainey, St Kieran's, Murroe Boher and Pallasgreen. Knockainey and St Kieran's get the action underway in group two on Thursday at 7pm in Balllybrown. 

Limerick senior hurling star Seamus Flanagan will be in action for Feohanagh against Na Piarsaigh on Sunday at 1pm in Croagh. Na Piarsaigh's second team were relegated from premier intermediate ranks last year. 

Former Limerick hurler Colin Ryan will in action for Pallasgreen against Murroe Boher on Sunday at 3pm in Cappamore. 

The Premier Junior Hurling Championship gets underway this week. Crecora-Manister, Monaleen, Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan, Tournafulla, St Patrick's and Monagea have been drawn in group one. 

After his stint away in America during the summer, Cathal O'Neill will resume his club duties with Crecora Manister against Monaleen in Rathbane on Friday evening at 7pm. Oisin O'Farrell who was drafted into the Limerick senior hurling panel this year will be playing for Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan against Tournafulla in Dromcollogher Broadford on Thursday at 7pm. 

The final game of the weekend see last year's runners-up of the Premier Junior Championship St Patrick's take on Monagea on Saturday evening at 7pm in Askeaton. Hegarty brothers Gearoid and Diamruid are key players for the city outfit. 

Group two features Caherline, Dromcollogher Broadford, Kilteely-Dromkeen, Doon, Kilmallock and Knockaderry. On Thursday, Caherline meet Dromcollogher Broadford in Kilbreedy at 7pm. Knockderry take on Kilmallock's second team in Feenagh on Friday evening at 7pm. 

Former Limerick hurler Brian O'Grady will be in action for Kilteely-Dromkeen against Doon's second team on Sunday at 5pm in Pallasgreen.
