LIMERICK and Cork are set for another titantic battle this afternoon in round four of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship. John Kiely's side host their Munster rivals at 4pm in the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.

The round four Munster SHC clash between Limerick and Cork is officially sold out. 43,000 spectators are expected in the Ennis road venue on Sunday.

There has been very little between the sides in recent seasons. Earlier this year, Limerick and Cork played out a draw in the Allianz Hurling League.

Last year's 'the Rebels' defeated Limerick in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship round-robin series and in the All-Ireland semi-final. Before last year, Limerick had the upper hand on Cork.

The Shannonsiders had defeated Cork in their Championship meetings from 2020 to 2023, with Cork’s last win over Limerick before last year coming in 2019.

Both sides sit level on three points at the top of the table in the Munster SHC round-robin series. Cork played out a draw with Clare in round one. Pat Ryan's side then produced a ruthless performance to get past Tipp in round two.

After an opening round draw with Tipperary, Limerick registered their first win of the Munster Championship against Waterford.

Manager John Kiely has named an unchanged side from the line-up which defeated Waterford at Walsh Park two weeks ago. The Limerick substitutes' bench has been bolstered by the inclusion of Declan Hannon, Barry Murphy and Peter Casey in the matchday squad.

Shane Barrett replaces Seamus Harnedy in the Cork half forward line. Barrett returns from suspension after the Cork attacker received a red card against Clare.
