PICTURES: Supporters cheer UL to Fitzgibbon Cup victory over SETU Waterford

SUPPORTERS cheered on UL to an impressive 3-24 to 1-17 victory over SETU Waterford in the first round of the Fitzgibbon Cup at Maguire's Field in UL on Wednesday evening.

Helped by the excellent free-taking of Tipperary's Gearóid O'Connor, UL ultimately eased to victory in the second period after SETU Waterford, who included Kilmallock's Barry Hennessy between the posts, had closed to within two points of their opponents eight minutes into the second half.

Adam English, of Doon and Limerick, was among the first half goalscorers for last year's Fitzgibbon Cup finalists.
