Four teams remain in Premier Intermediate race

BRUFF, Newcastle West, Garryspillane and Effin are two games away from promotion to senior hurling.

After seven rounds of the Lyons of Limerick premier intermediate hurling championship, four teams remain in the hunt to win this year's championship.

The championship's semi-finals take place this Saturday as part of a double header in Kilmallock.

In the first semi-final, round robin table toppers Newcastle West take on Effin in Kilmallock at 2pm.

The Magpies have been the most impressive team in the championship to date.

Ethan Hurley missed their clash against Blackrock through injury and Newcastle West will be hoping he can recover from injury this weekend.

Effin were defeated by Newcastle West in the earlier rounds of the premier intermediate championship.

The South Limerick side will look to the likes of Fergal O'Connor, Nickie Quaid and Patrick O'Donovan for big performances this weekend.

In the second semi-final, Bruff and Garryspillane face off at 4pm.

Bruff will be sweating on the fitness of Limerick star Sean Finn. Finn limped off with an injury in their final group game against Effin.

Garryspillane were relegated to premier intermediate last year and ‘the Bouncers’ will look to make the jump straight back up to senior hurling.

Meanwhile, Murroe-Boher face Bruree and Foehanagh take on Croagh-Kilfinny in this weekend's IHC semi-finals.
