ROUND four of the Senior Hurling Championship takes place from this Thursday until Saturday.
Doon have went into top spot after their victory over Na Piarsaigh in group one of the SHC. Na Piarsaigh and Kilmallock are in second and third place on four points. Ahane and Patrickswell are both level on two points in fourth and fifth place.Mungret St Paul's are yet to register a win in this year's Championship.
Table toppers Doon have secured their place into the knockout stages. Doon will look to make it four wins out of four against Mungret St Paul's on Saturday in Kilmallock at 4:30pm. Adam English has been central to the East Limerick sides fast start to the Championship. English has impressed throughout the SHC campaign where he has been on target with 1-23. Darragh O'Donovan, Richie English and Barry Murphy have all stood out for Derek McGrath's charges.
Brian Begley will be disappointed in the manner that Mungret St Paul's suffered a heavy defeat to Patrickswell. Last year's winners of group two of the SHC produced strong performances against Ahane and Kilmallock. Mungret will look to get things back on track on Saturday.
Na Piarsaigh and Kilmallock meet in the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 7pm on Friday evening.The winner of this clash will advance into the semi-final of the SHC.
Na Piarsaigh were narrowly pipped by Doon last week. Goalkeeeper Shane Dowling chipped in with 0-3 long range frees. The county champions will be thrilled on the way they fought back after trailed by 1-8 to 0-5 at the break.
Kilmallock will be hoping to make it three wins on the trot on Friday evening. Peter Queally's side have registered two wins in a row against Mungret St Paul's and Ahane. Shane O'Brien has been on target with 3-7 in the opening three games in the Championship.
The final game of round four in group one of the SHC sees Ahane meet Patrickswell on Friday September 13 in Claughaun at 6pm.
Group two table toppers Ballybrown will look to make it four wins out of four against Adare on Friday in Mick Neville Park at 7pm. Aidan O'Connor has been in sensational form for the city based club where he has scored 0-35 in three games.
Louis Mulqueen will be disappointed by Adare's Championship campaign where they have failed to win a game in the SHC this year. Willie Griffin has been a massive loss through injury.
Dromin Athlacca and Monaleen face off in a huge clash on Friday evening in Cappamore at 6:30pm. Both sides have recorded two victories and suffered a defeat. Monaleen sit in second place, while Drominn Athlacca are in third place. A win will put either club in a fantastic position to reach the knockout stages.
On Thursday evening, Kildimo Pallaskenry will look to record their third win of the SHC against South Liberties. Kildimo Pallaskenry are still in the hunt to reach the last six. South Liberties are yet to register a win this year in group two of SHC.
