AFTER two rounds in Group 1 of the Bon Secours Limerick Senior Hurling Championship, Na Piarsaigh and Doon have maintained their unbeaten records.

Both clubs have claimed back-to-back wins in the opening two rounds and look in a great position to qualify for the knockout stages of the SHC.

The Caherdavin-based side are bidding to win three SHC titles in a row for the first time in their history. Ronan Lynch has impressed for Shane O'Neill's side scoring 0-15. Doon have recorded two victories over Kilmallock and Patrickswell which has been the ideal start for Derek McGrath's tenure as manager of the East Limerick based side. Adam English has continued his excellent inter-county form where has been on target with 1-15.

The reigning county champions sit on four points with a scoring difference of +8, Doon are level on points with them and sit just behind Na Piarsaigh on a scoring difference +7.

Ahane and Kilmallock have both suffered a defeat and registered one win. Tom Morrissey's performances have stood out for Ahane where the Limerick attacker has been on target with 1-20.

Ahane will look to improve on last year's championship record where they only managed to win one game which ultimately was not enough for them to advance into the knockout stages.

After an opening round defeat, Kilmallock have put themselves back into contention to reach the knockout stages of the competition. Peter Queally's side defeated Mungret St Paul's by one point last weekend.

Shane O'Brien has been one of the most impressive hurlers throughout the Club Championship landing 2-6 from play. Kilmallock are just ahead of Ahane on scoring difference.

Patrickswell and Mungret St Paul's will need to regroup with both clubs yet to register a win in group one of the championship.
There will be a certain degree of disappointment for last year's county finalists, Patrickswell, who have been defeated by Na Piarsaigh and Doon.

Ciaran Carey will be looking for a big reaction from his team in their next outing in three weeks time.

Mungret St Pauls will be disappointed having lost the first two games by one point on both occasions. There are still a huge amount of positives Brian Begley can take with the way his side have competed and battled.

The City-based side have just made the jump up to Group 1 of the SHC after coming top of the SHC group two last year.
Patrickswell and Mungret St Paul's will need a victory in the next round to keep their championship hopes alive.

Round Three of the Senior Hurling Championship will get back underway on the week of August 29.

Na Piarsaigh take on Doon where a win for either side will guarantee their place into the knock-out stages of the Championship. Ahane face Kilmallock where a win for either club will also put them in a strong position.

Patrickswell and Mungret St Paul's face off in what feels like a do-or-die clash. The loser of this clash will put themselves under huge pressure where relegation to Group Two will be a real possibility.
